“These small compositions bring new colors, ideas, and variety to the originals.”

Reflections Op. 28: Mallorca Preludes is my debut album as a classical concert pianist dedicated to the story behind Frédéric Chopin’s Preludes, Op. 28.

The story began in 1838–1839 on the island of Mallorca, Spain, where Chopin, together with his then-beloved, the writer George Sand and her children, spent time resting and composing in the monastery of Valldemossa. In 2016, new reflections echoed beneath the same monastery vaults – “responses” to Chopin’s music, written by contemporary Spanish composers.

This album brings all the 24 preludes Op. 28 by Chopin alongside 12 of these contemporary reflections — each pairing inviting the listener to experience the echoes of Romantic emotion through a modern lens.

This album for me was more than a recording — it was a dialogue across time, an exploration of how inspiration evolves, and a tribute to both tradition and innovation. I hope listeners will feel the intensity, the contrasts, and the shared spirit that unites these works — and find, within them, their own moments of reflection.

I express my deepest gratitude for prof. Mūza Rubackytė and Mrs. Rosa Capllonch Ferrà for leading me to the treasures of Real Cartuja de Valldemossa.

I’m passionate about telling stories through and behind the music. This is how conceptual programs – recitals became my main tool to live on stage. Reflections Op. 28: Mallorca Preludes is one of the very special stories. The inspiration came from the time Chopin spent in Mallorca and the echoes of his Preludes, Op. 28. This album brings together his original cycle Op. 28 with 12 contemporary preludes-responses by Spanish composers.

The recording grew out of my concert-performance Winter in Mallorca, a collaboration with actress Birutė Mar, that toured extensively across Lithuania and was met with warmth and full houses.

My musical path began in Kaunas, at Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium under the tuition of my first piano teacher Ligija Rinkevičienė, and continued at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre under Prof. Halina Radvilaitė. Later, I’ve studied with Prof. Konrad Richter at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts, and since 2013, I’ve had the privilege of being mentored by pianist Mūza Rubackytė, who also served as artistic director for my debut album.

Over the years, I’ve had the joy of performing across Europe, both as a soloist and chamber musician — from my debut at Musikverein Graz with my violin-piano Duo to the International Chamber Music Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Austria and with solo performance with Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Alicante at Music Fest Perugia in Italy.

Music, for me, is a space for reflection, connection, and emotional honesty. Whether performing, recording, or building new programs, I always hope to create an experience where listeners feel something true — and perhaps, find a part of themselves in the music.

These small compositions bring new colors, ideas, and variety to the originals.
